Senior GTM Systems Engineer

Apollo.io
•$138,000 - $198,000

About The Position

Apollo.io is hiring a Senior GTM Systems Engineer to partner with Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Revenue Operations. The role owns Salesforce architecture and process design across the go-to-market funnel and serves as a systems subject-matter expert for supported business domains. As part of the GTM Business Systems team, the engineer translates business problems into durable system solutions and works across GTM, R&D, and IT to govern a multi-instance Salesforce environment, support next-generation quote-to-cash infrastructure, and contribute to AI-driven GTM capabilities. The engineer will become the primary systems partner for one of the team's domains: TOFU (Marketing and Partnerships), MOFU (Sales, Success and Onboarding), or BOFU (Internal Tools and BI). The role combines operational support and incremental improvements with architecture ownership, stakeholder alignment, roadmap development, end-to-end system implementation, and end-user support. It also contributes to AI-enabled workflows and quote-to-cash systems intended to support Apollo's growth and pre-IPO activities. Apollo describes itself as an AI-native company focused on continuous improvement, ownership, urgency, learning, collaboration, and experimentation. Compensation varies by location and experience. The listed US cash compensation ranges are $159,000–$198,000 for Tier 1 locations (San Francisco, New York City, and Seattle) and $138,000–$172,000 for Tier 2 locations (all other US locations).

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of business analysis or consulting experience.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on Salesforce platform experience in an administration or development capacity.
  • A college degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Deep understanding of go-to-market processes and supporting systems across Marketing, BDR, Sales, and Customer Success/Onboarding.
  • Hands-on Salesforce experience creating and maintaining custom fields and objects; managing roles, profiles, permission sets, and sharing settings; building automation with Flow (preferred) and Process Builder; and using Data Loader.
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with multiple concurrent stakeholders and translate vague business problems into scoped, well-designed solutions.
  • Track record of making and defending architecture decisions under ambiguity rather than only executing a specification.
  • Experience supporting end-to-end feature and system implementations, including discovery and requirements gathering, vendor selection, solution design, build and configuration, QA/UAT, deployment, training, and communication.
  • Experience working with Agile methodology and managing multiple projects with attention to detail in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong logic, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent verbal and written communication and time-management skills; and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Fluency with AI tools in system development and the judgment to verify AI-generated work, recognize limitations, and protect production CRM data integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce Administrator certification.
  • An active Trailhead account.
  • Experience across Sales Cloud, CPQ, and Service Cloud.
  • Experience with Salesforce environments of 100 or more users.
  • Experience at a high-growth company from Series C through IPO, preferably in SaaS or product-led growth.

Responsibilities

  • Build knowledge of Apollo's GTM processes and technology stack, and review and update the systems architecture map and process flow diagrams.
  • Serve as primary GTM Systems partner for a designated business domain; own ongoing system support and incremental sprint improvements, become the domain SME, and lead bi-weekly alignment and backlog grooming sessions to establish a roadmap.
  • Partner with Sales leadership and Sales Operations to streamline the renewal process, including opportunity stages, pages, and page layouts.
  • Make and defend architecture decisions, including choices about Salesforce platform events versus custom objects and the downstream effects of field-mapping changes.
  • Partner on AI-driven builds such as automated call coaching and deal scoring, demo instance automation, and AI-assisted CRM data capture; help define solutions and contribute from design through rollout and feedback.
  • Support the design, build, testing, rollout, and maintenance of next-generation quote-to-cash infrastructure, including refining the opportunity model for new business, upsell, and renewal opportunities.
  • Own Salesforce initiatives and end-user support end to end; build and maintain automation with flows, Apex, and LWC; manage users, profiles, roles, and permission sets; administer page layouts, fields, objects, and record types; and handle data imports, exports, and upserts.
  • Implement and administer Salesforce-integrated tools as needed, such as Chili Piper, Ironclad, and Gong.
  • Promote Salesforce best practices and end-user adoption, and maintain thorough, current functional and technical documentation.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools in the build workflow while retaining responsibility for design judgment and changes.
  • Structure GTM systems and data for reliable AI interpretation through sound object and schema design, field definitions, and semantic documentation.
  • Partner on the design and rollout of AI agents and AI-assisted workflows, and identify opportunities to replace manual processes with automation.
  • Stay current with AI tools, experiment, share learnings, and help improve team practices.
  • Validate and review AI-generated configuration and code to prevent errors, regressions, and data-integrity issues.
