Senior GTM Engineer

Wordsmith AI•New York, NY

About The Position

Wordsmith is building a legal operations platform for in-house teams, bringing requests, AI-assisted routine work, lawyer oversight, and workflow records into one system. More than 500 companies use Wordsmith, and the company is backed by $100 million from Index Ventures, General Catalyst, Highland Europe, and others. The Senior GTM Engineer will be the first hire in Wordsmith’s GTM engineering function and will own the systems, tooling, and automation that support company growth. This is a senior, hands-on role reporting to the CMO. The role spans marketing and sales technology, tooling, and systems behind the website, and involves deciding what to build, buy, or retire. The engineer will create systems that help Marketing, Sales, Partnerships, Customer Success, and Account Management find, win, and retain customers. Success will be measured by the commercial impact of systems shipped, including website conversion, speed to lead, pipeline, and expansion; reductions in manual GTM work and adoption of new systems; trusted CRM data and consistent definitions across GTM; and workflow reliability and tool spend relative to the value delivered. The role offers ownership of GTM systems, data, and tooling, partnership with the CMO and cross-functional leaders, a tooling budget, and a mandate to improve existing systems.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building GTM systems at a B2B software company through GTM engineering, growth engineering, technical marketing operations, RevOps, or software engineering.
  • Ability to build and write production-quality Python or JavaScript and SQL.
  • Comfort working with APIs and webhooks and using AI coding tools.
  • Deep knowledge of CRM, marketing automation, and sales tool data models.
  • Experience running AI workflows or agents in production.
  • Commercial judgment and understanding of acquisition, conversion, retention, and expansion, with the ability to turn ambiguous growth problems into working systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical teams, explain tradeoffs, say no when needed, and drive adoption of systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Website and front-end experience, including forms, tracking, personalization, and experimentation.
  • Data warehouse, transformation, and reverse ETL experience.
  • Experience turning product usage data into routing, scoring, and lifecycle triggers.
  • Experience supporting several GTM motions at once, such as enterprise sales, ABM, partnerships, and expansion.
  • Security and compliance experience with GTM systems, including SOC 2 or GDPR.

Responsibilities

  • Own the GTM stack and roadmap, audit marketing, sales, and website systems, remove overlap, and manage the tooling budget and vendor relationships.
  • Own the GTM data model and make the CRM the trusted source of truth for accounts, contacts, and pipeline, with clear definitions for stages, sources, and attribution.
  • Build reliable integrations among the CRM, marketing automation, sales tools, website, product usage data, and enrichment systems using APIs, webhooks, and reverse ETL.
  • Work with Marketing and Engineering on website forms, routing, tracking, personalization, and experimentation to increase pipeline conversion.
  • Build signal-based pipeline systems, including account scoring, enrichment, intent and product-usage signals, routing, and follow-up.
  • Build AI agents for GTM work such as account research, outreach preparation, inbound qualification, meeting follow-up, and renewal and expansion signals; evaluate them in shadow mode and determine where human review is needed.
  • Test, monitor, document, and version systems; manage permissions and data governance to meet the scrutiny expected of a company serving legal teams.
  • Run the GTM engineering function like a product by establishing intake and a shared backlog with GTM leaders, prioritizing by commercial impact, shipping regularly, and demonstrating results.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity.
  • Ownership of GTM systems, data, and tooling across Wordsmith.
  • A real tooling budget and the mandate to rebuild what is not working.
