About The Position

As Senior Director of Wellness, you'll own the strategy and day-to-day operations of Fitness, Group Exercise, Aquatics, personal training, and specialized wellness programs, and serve as a key leadership partner for our Center for Healthy Longevity. You'll build an inclusive, high-quality wellness experience that helps members of every age and ability find pathways to health, connection, and belonging.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven leadership experience in health, fitness, aquatics, wellness, recreation, or a related field, overseeing people, programs, operations, and financial performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; advanced degrees and professional certifications are a plus.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience coaching staff, managing performance, and building collaborative, high-performing teams.
  • Strategic and results-oriented, with the ability to turn ideas into clear priorities, measurable goals, and successful programs.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including budgeting, revenue development, program analysis, and resource allocation.
  • Broad knowledge of health, fitness, aquatics, and wellness trends; experience in healthy aging, medical fitness, and/or brain health is highly valued.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and engage members and community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for Fitness, Group Exercise, Aquatics, and wellness initiatives, ensuring alignment with PJCC’s mission and community needs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop wellness managers and staff, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team.
  • Set annual and long-term goals and use data, member feedback, financial results, and industry trends to evaluate performance and guide decisions.
  • Strengthen existing Fitness and Aquatics programs while identifying and launching new opportunities that respond to community needs and wellness trends.
  • Advance specialized wellness programming, including PINK Power, healthy aging, brain health, and other evidence-informed initiatives.
  • Partner with PJCC leadership and external experts to grow the Center for Healthy Longevity and its focus on physical wellness, brain health, lifelong learning, and social connection.
  • Create opportunities for members to deepen their engagement across PJCC’s fitness, aquatics, and wellness programs.
  • Manage department budgets and optimize pricing, staffing, scheduling, and programs to support financial sustainability, accessibility, and mission impact.
  • Collaborate across PJCC departments to create seamless member experiences, cross-program engagement, and coordinated communications.
  • Build relationships with members, community organizations, wellness professionals, funders, and partners, serving as a visible ambassador for PJCC wellness.
  • Ensure programs and facilities maintain high standards for safety, inclusion, quality, risk management, and operational excellence.
