About The Position

The Senior Diesel Service Advisor serves as the main liaison between Schneider drivers and diesel technicians in Gary. The role performs minor repairs and administrative duties that support the day-to-day operation of a shop. It includes retrieving truck fault codes to help diagnose problems and make repair decisions, handling general shop tasks, communicating repair status and wait times to drivers, and helping ensure needed parts are available.

Requirements

• Technical degree in diesel technology or a related field, or at least 2 years of diesel service advisor experience.
• Experience with computer systems and diagnostic software.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to provide own tools within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve truck fault codes to diagnose problems and make appropriate repair decisions.
• Perform general shop duties, including answering phone calls, writing service requests, estimating repair times, and performing minor repairs.
• Maintain open communication with drivers by providing updates on repair decisions and wait times.
• Assist with inventory management by ensuring parts needed for repairs are in stock and submitting parts requests when they are not.
