The Senior Design & Physical Implementation Engineer develops process monitors and silicon characterization circuits used to evaluate device behavior, process variation, layout-dependent effects, reliability, and technology performance. The role spans the full development cycle, from circuit architecture and SPICE simulation through physical implementation, custom layout, silicon validation, and data analysis. It combines circuit design, physical implementation, verification, automation, and silicon characterization, with an emphasis on understanding how layout, placement, routing, extraction, and process variation affect circuit behavior and silicon results. The engineer works cross-functionally to create circuits that generate silicon insights and support data-driven engineering decisions. Responsibilities encompass analog and characterization circuit design, physical design and implementation, custom layout, verification, supporting digital circuitry, EDA automation, silicon bring-up and debug, and correlation of measured results with simulation. The position is based in Austin, Texas, and operates in an office setting.
