About The Position

The Senior Cyber Security Specialist protects the organization’s computer systems and networks from cyber threats by identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security measures, and responding to security incidents. The role requires strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, technologies, and program areas. The position is on site in a Vensure office five days a week during normal working hours.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of at least four years of experience in a related field.
Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security technologies.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to assess and mitigate risks.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Ability to work effectively on a team and collaborate with cross-functional groups.
Strong knowledge of security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection software, and business systems such as M365 or Google.
Ability to work on site five days a week during normal working hours.

Nice To Haves

Experience administering or engineering security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and firewalls is strongly desired.
Relevant skills, education, certifications, or job training programs are preferred.
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CISM are highly desirable.
Experience as a cybersecurity engineer or system administrator is desired.
Experience with cloud security, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, NIST, and ISO.
Familiarity with software development practices and scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for task automation.

Responsibilities

Review and validate detected cybersecurity incidents and risks.
Determine the operational impacts of cybersecurity control failures.
Develop, track, and present cybersecurity statistics and metrics for the assigned area.
Respond to security breaches and incidents, supporting less-tenured cybersecurity personnel.
Communicate business impacts and recommend remediation steps to decision makers.
Develop and approve changes to cybersecurity procedures and systems.
Apply current knowledge of cybersecurity trends and threats to prevent risks to the business enterprise.
Provide input to enterprise resiliency, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
Build, maintain, and promote relationships with team members and peers across disciplines to coordinate communications and services affecting clients.
Attend webinars and training to stay current on best practices related to the company and department.
Complete projects and other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
