About The Position

Render is seeking a Senior Content Engineer to own the strategy and systems behind content that helps AI assistants, coding agents, and answer engines recommend Render to developers. The role is focused on content and works closely with Developer Experience Engineering, the Head of Developer Experience, Render’s docs owners, and external content partners. The position involves identifying content gaps by analyzing AEO benchmarks, citation tracking, and AI-agent traffic; prioritizing content to address those gaps; and building and operating an AI-assisted content pipeline using Render Workflows. The engineer will improve research, drafting, fact-checking, evaluation, review, and publishing processes while maintaining technical accuracy and quality as output grows. The role also includes refreshing existing content, coordinating external partners, expanding documentation coverage, and measuring the effect of content on Render’s visibility and signups. This is a remote position within the United States, with the option to work from Render’s San Francisco headquarters.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in technical content, developer education, content engineering, or software engineering with a strong content focus.
  • A working understanding of AEO or generative engine optimization (GEO) and how answer engines choose sources.
  • Strong working knowledge of AI agents, including daily use of coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor and familiarity with agent workloads such as long-running tasks, tool calls, and sandboxed code execution.
  • Experience building content systems in code, such as scripts, pipelines, or LLM and agent workflows, and using evaluations to understand the effects of changes.
  • Comfort with Python or TypeScript, Git, and APIs.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to assess the accuracy of documentation pages and code samples.
  • Strong editorial judgment, including ability to identify weak structure, generic AI-generated prose, and factual errors.
  • Ability to own a system end to end and hold external partners to a quality bar.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running SEO or programmatic content at scale, especially for developer audiences.
  • Experience with LLM benchmarking or answer-engine measurement.
  • Experience building agents or MCP servers.
  • Familiarity with cloud hosting, deployment, or infrastructure products.
  • Prior use of Render, professionally or on side projects.
  • Experience at a developer tools or infrastructure company.

Responsibilities

  • Own content gap analysis using AEO benchmarks, citation tracking, and AI-agent traffic data to identify where Render is missing, inaccurate, or out-cited in LLM answers.
  • Turn content-gap analysis into a prioritized backlog of articles, guides, and documentation, with clear reasoning for priorities.
  • Build and improve AI-assisted content pipelines on Render Workflows for research, drafting, fact-checking, and publishing technical content.
  • Test content-pipeline changes with evaluations and maintain system reliability as output grows.
  • Own the content review loop, making expert review faster and less costly while tracking factual accuracy and maintaining quality.
  • Run the refresh cycle for existing content so it remains accurate as the product changes.
  • Manage day-to-day work with external content partners, including briefs, feedback, quality, and output.
  • Partner with documentation owners to expand docs coverage where it can drive citations.
  • Define and report metrics showing whether content affects Render’s visibility and signups.
