Senior Software Engineer, Content Understanding
About The Position
As a Senior Software Engineer within the Creator Organization, you will develop full-stack solutions for Roblox’s Content Understanding Platform. The platform processes billions of pieces of content, including 3D models, audio files, text, video, and entire experiences, to extract structured information about their meaning, context, and relationships. The team uses machine-learning and AI models alongside scalable backend platforms to generate metadata that supports search, discovery, and moderation across Roblox. Your work will help enable asset discovery, automate moderation, and develop generative AI tools for creators and users.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of strong programming skills in at least two languages, such as Python, C#, C++, or Java, and willingness to learn others.
- Exposure to frontend technologies and frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Practical experience building and scaling backend systems in cloud environments.
- Expertise across the stack, including backend development and deploying machine-learning models in production environments.
- Familiarity with image or 3D object understanding; gaming or content creation industry experience is ideal.
- A strong foundation in computer vision, AI, or related fields.
- A results-oriented mindset and readiness to tackle challenges and tasks beyond your comfort zone.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with large-scale search systems, generative AI, or semantic content understanding.
- Experience with modern deep-learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and end-to-end machine-learning workflows.
- Knowledge of 3D geometry or asset workflows.
Responsibilities
- Solve full-stack challenges that improve how AI, creators, and users describe and interact with content, including images, 3D models, audio, text, and video.
- Build scalable pipelines for evaluating and deploying machine-learning models for content annotation and discovery.
- Develop robust backend systems for real-time search, discovery, and generative AI features.
- Apply AI research to build practical, production-ready solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and multifunctional teams to deliver technical projects.
