About The Position

The Senior Communications Designer turns complex, often sensitive technology into clear, memorable stories that help audiences understand and act. Working with Communications, Business Development, engineers, and executives, the designer identifies what matters, structures the narrative, and creates distinctive presentations for capability and company communications, customer briefings, business development, executive communications, and keynotes. This is a hands-on design role requiring a strong creative point of view and meticulous craft. The designer develops visual concepts, imagery, and pacing that make ideas resonate; follows the brand guidelines; and helps expand the brand system when a project calls for something new. The role also involves managing proprietary and export-controlled content in accordance with company policy and carrying projects from intake through delivery. The position follows a hybrid work environment, with successful candidates located near Denver, Colorado, or Long Beach, California. Some work must be performed onsite. The role is open until filled. Applicants must meet applicable U.S. Government space technology export-control eligibility requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in communication, presentation, information, or brand design, including substantial presentation work and a record of leading complex, high-visibility projects.

  • Where possible, show starting material alongside finished work and explain your specific contribution; anonymized or redacted examples are welcome.
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify the main point and decide what to emphasize, simplify, sequence, or cut.
  • Experience working directly with technical experts, senior stakeholders, and business development or sales teams, including developing the narrative before design begins.
  • Experience handling sensitive, proprietary, or controlled information, or the discipline to learn quickly.
  • Excellent typography, layout, data visualization, and diagramming skills.
  • Experience designing within an established brand system, creating new components when needed, and building reusable templates for non-designers.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Figma, including editable charts, master layouts, and reliable file handoff.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where the function and workflows are still being built.
  • Genuine interest in aerospace, defense, or national security, and willingness to take the mission seriously.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
