About The Position

The Senior Business Systems Analyst is a hands-on individual-contributor role responsible for day-to-day IT governance, audit readiness, internal controls, and administration and oversight of enterprise business systems. The position is the primary IT owner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and related business applications, working closely with Finance, Quality, Operations, external auditors, and technology partners. It complements the IT Operations Manager and Senior IT Systems Administrator by focusing on governance, controls, business applications, and documentation. The Associate Vice President of IT retains accountability for IT strategy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, budget, and the overall technology roadmap. The role executes and documents IT general controls; coordinates audit support and remediation; maintains policies, procedures, risk documentation, and evidence; and supports privacy, records, validation, and other regulatory requirements. It administers or oversees Business Central and assigned applications, including access, workflows, enhancements, testing, validation, releases, reporting, data integrity, and application documentation. The position also coordinates vendor work, reviews deliverables and service performance, maintains an application-change backlog, and supports cybersecurity and AI governance activities. The role is remote, with Northeast candidates preferred, and requires quarterly travel to Queensbury, New York, as well as additional travel as business needs require.

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of progressive experience in IT, business systems, enterprise applications, IT governance, or a related field.

  • Working knowledge of role-based access, segregation of duties, application security, and control documentation.
  • Experience coordinating work with software vendors, consultants, managed service providers, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to document processes clearly, manage competing priorities, and follow issues through resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, maintain availability during Eastern Time business hours, and travel to Queensbury, New York at least quarterly and as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a publicly traded, life-sciences, medical-device, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or similarly regulated organization.
  • Familiarity with computerized-system validation, GxP expectations, or regulated change-control practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Power BI, identity and access management, and enterprise SaaS administration.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, COBIT, ITIL, or an ERP platform certification.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and document IT general controls, including access, change management, operations, and third-party controls.
  • Coordinate IT support for SOX testing, internal and external audits, evidence requests, control walkthroughs, and remediation activities.
  • Maintain current IT policies, procedures, control narratives, risk documentation, and supporting evidence.
  • Track control deficiencies, corrective actions, and open audit items through completion, escalating material risks to the Associate Vice President of IT.
  • Support privacy, records, validation, and other regulatory requirements in partnership with Legal, Quality, and business owners.
  • Review technology vendors and business applications for appropriate ownership, access, documentation, controls, and lifecycle management.
  • Serve as the primary internal owner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and other assigned enterprise business applications.
  • Administer or oversee user setup, roles, permissions, approval workflows, purchasing access, and other front-end application configuration.
  • Perform and coordinate periodic access reviews and segregation-of-duties reviews with Finance and system owners, resolving conflicts.
  • Coordinate application support, enhancements, upgrades, testing, validation, and release activities with internal users and external partners.
  • Maintain system documentation, configuration records, testing evidence, support procedures, and application ownership information.
  • Support reporting, data integrity, integration oversight, and resolution of recurring business-system issues.
  • Facilitate or participate in Business Central steering, support, and change-control meetings, maintaining visibility into priorities, risks, and open decisions.
  • Coordinate work performed by ERP consultants, software providers, and other assigned technology vendors.
  • Review vendor scopes, estimates, deliverables, support performance, and open issues before recommending approval or escalation.
  • Maintain an organized backlog of application changes, enhancements, and technical debt aligned with business priorities.
  • Ensure changes follow required approval, testing, documentation, and validation processes before production deployment.
  • Assist with vendor renewals, licensing reviews, and service evaluations for assigned business systems.
  • Support the Associate Vice President of IT with implementing cybersecurity controls, documenting evidence, and tracking remediation activities.
  • Assist with access governance, vendor-risk reviews, incident follow-up, and security-policy compliance as assigned.
  • Support administration and documentation of the company’s AI governance requirements; the Associate Vice President of IT retains program ownership and strategic direction.
  • Partner with the IT Operations Manager and Senior IT Systems Administrator on disaster recovery, business continuity, system documentation, and cross-training.
  • Provide backup support for assigned administrative processes and help ensure critical responsibilities are not dependent on one individual.
