Senior Associate, UX Design

Kyndryl•Dallas, TX

About The Position

Kyndryl Vital is a global network of designers, engineers, writers, researchers, and strategists who help clients make sense of complexity and create adaptive experience ecosystems. The Senior Associate, UX Design uses human-centered methods to understand user needs, identify pain points and opportunities, and develop solutions that meet or exceed those needs. In this role, you will own significant parts of client design workstreams alongside lead designers, from research and requirements through detailed design, high-fidelity visual design, prototyping, and delivery. You will work with clients to understand their users and business, present work in design reviews, and collaborate with engineering, data, and consulting teams. You will use stakeholder and user feedback to iterate on solutions and uphold a high standard of quality and usability. The work includes designing experiences for AI, including agentic systems that plan, act, and hand work back to people. You will map journeys and service blueprints spanning human and AI actors, design human-in-the-loop handoffs, and create interaction patterns that address latency, ambiguity, uncertainty, and errors while keeping users informed and in control. You will prototype and test human-AI interactions with users and develop a point of view on where automation does and does not serve people. The role also includes dashboards, web and enterprise applications, design systems, service design, and client-facing workshops.

Requirements

  • Solid grounding in human-centered design methods and mindset, supported by a portfolio of client, enterprise, or product work.
  • Ability to design usable and satisfying user flows, journeys, and interfaces using common interaction patterns and an understanding of how people think and behave.
  • Ability to create journey maps and service blueprints for multi-actor systems, including systems with AI agents.
  • Hands-on experience designing AI-driven features or agentic experiences, such as human-AI interaction flows, handoff moments, or interfaces that handle uncertainty and errors; ability to show the work and explain design decisions.
  • Ability to plan and conduct generative and evaluative research and translate findings into design decisions.
  • Fluency with Figma or similar tools and ability to create context-appropriate, low- to high-fidelity prototypes, including prototypes of AI-assisted interactions.
  • Experience working directly with clients or business stakeholders, presenting work, and adapting to feedback and constraints.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions and explain design decisions clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong visual design skills in typography, layout, color, hierarchy, and iconography, with the ability to produce polished high-fidelity interfaces.
  • Ability to work fluently within design systems and contribute to them, with strong information design and visual communication skills.
  • Portfolio demonstrating visual design craft.
  • Ability to design for accessibility, inclusion, and appropriate transparency in AI-driven features.
  • Use of AI-powered design and research tools while maintaining quality and craft.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to IT infrastructure or other complex technical domains.
  • Background in human behavior or applied social sciences.
  • Experience working closely with AI/ML engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design and prototyping tools such as Figma Make, Miro AI, Lovable, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Own significant portions of client design workstreams from research and requirements through detailed design, high-fidelity visual design, prototyping, and delivery.
  • Understand user needs and business requirements, identify pain points and opportunities, and translate requirements into design hypotheses and tangible experiences.
  • Conduct research and facilitate exploration of design hypotheses with users.
  • Present work in design reviews and collaborate with clients, engineering, data, and consulting teams.
  • Use stakeholder and user feedback to iterate and refine solutions for quality and usability.
  • Map journeys and create service blueprints spanning human and AI actors.
  • Design human-in-the-loop handoffs and interaction patterns for AI systems that address latency, ambiguity, uncertainty, and error states while keeping users informed and in control.
  • Prototype and test human-AI interactions with real users.
  • Design dashboards, web and enterprise applications, and design systems, and contribute to service design and client-facing workshops.

Benefits

  • Employee learning programs with access to industry certifications, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Skillsoft.
