The Security Specialist maintains customer service while monitoring security systems and equipment, supporting security system programming and badging, observing and reporting suspicious behavior and incidents, enforcing company policies, and analyzing footage and alarms for patterns or trends. The role works in a campus environment and requires calm, decisive responses, including during emergencies. It involves communicating effectively with law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical personnel, and other state or federal agencies. The specialist monitors and responds to alarms, analyzes security footage, investigates suspicious behavior, incidents, and breaches, and may apprehend trespassers or escort unauthorized people from the property. The role also supports communication and collaboration among security staff and internal partners, maintains daily activity logs and incident reports, and prepares surveillance reports. Regular training in verbal de-escalation and conflict resolution, including use-of-force-continuum tactics, is required, along with ongoing performance feedback and evaluation to support continuous improvement and compliance with ethical standards. Physical demands include prolonged sitting or working and standing, lifting at least 25 pounds, and patrolling the facility and exterior grounds in all weather conditions for rounds and inspections. The specialist may support security at more than one campus location to cover shifts, assist with security officer training, and perform other assigned duties. This is an hourly position.
