About The Position

The Security Officer helps maintain a safe and secure environment for Overlake Medical Center staff, patients, and visitors. Officers independently assess rapidly evolving events and determine appropriate interventions, coordinate with people inside and outside the security department, and adapt to changing or conflicting priorities while maintaining customer satisfaction. The role provides a full spectrum of security services to a diverse customer base. This is a per diem position with an hourly pay range of $24.49–$36.74.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Washington State driver's license and no criminal violations.
• Healthcare provider BLS certification.
• Customer service skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to run and physically intervene if necessary in emergency situations.
• Certification as a Basic Healthcare Security Officer through the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), required within one year of employment.
• Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) course and certification, required within six months of employment.

Nice To Haves

• One year in a customer service role preferred.
• One year of healthcare security experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions, give directions, and respond to public concerns.
• Patrol the facility campus and related off-campus locations as needed, maintaining a high-visibility presence that reflects well on the department and organization.
• Use computer-based systems for surveillance, access control, and documentation.
• Respond to emergency requests for assistance, including incidents involving fire, hazardous-material spills, criminal activity, and emotional or psychiatric disturbances.
• Use verbal de-escalation techniques or the minimum force possible to contain out-of-control persons.
• Assess rapidly evolving events, determine appropriate interventions, and coordinate efforts with others to achieve acceptable outcomes.
• Adapt to changing and sometimes conflicting priorities while maintaining customer satisfaction.
