About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time Security Officer for access control at a chemical and petrochemical location in Columbia, South Carolina. The role involves managing site entry, verifying credentials, monitoring access points and alarm systems, and maintaining a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents. The officer provides customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors while following site-specific policies and procedures. The stated schedule is Thursday and Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The pay rate is $16.50 per hour. Applicants must have at least one year of security-related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Employment is subject to background investigation and, where permitted by law, drug screening. Licensing may be required under applicable state or local regulations.

Requirements

At least 1 year of security-related experience.
At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to drug screening to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Carry out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, access-control protocols, and emergency response activities.
Monitor and control facility access by verifying credentials, managing visitor and contractor entry, and maintaining accurate access-related records.
Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, spills, unauthorized-entry attempts, and critical situations in accordance with site procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, buildings, restricted areas, and the perimeter to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential hazards.
Communicate professionally with employees, visitors, contractors, and emergency responders.
Promptly report unusual conditions or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
