Security Officer - Part Time Security Screening

About The Position

As a part-time Security Officer performing security screening at a logistics and distribution location in Dulles, Virginia, you will help safeguard the site by monitoring access, screening personnel and visitors, and reporting security-related concerns. The role involves providing customer service, communicating clearly, and maintaining a professional presence to help deter incidents. The posted schedule is Monday 1:00 PM–9:00 PM, Tuesday 9:00 PM–5:00 AM, and Sunday 1:00 PM–9:00 PM. The pay rate is $21.51 per hour.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Meet any licensing requirements that apply under state and/or local laws and regulations; licensing may be required before employment.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and employees while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
Screen packages, cargo, deliveries, and/or personnel according to site procedures and applicable requirements; document findings and escalate concerns to appropriate site contacts.
Monitor access points, verify credentials, and assist with the controlled flow of authorized personnel and vehicles throughout the distribution location.
Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, following established reporting and notification procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of operational areas, loading zones, parking areas, and the perimeter to identify unusual activity or conditions.
