About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Unarmed Patrol Officer at a university location in Norfolk, Virginia. The officer will conduct routine patrols and maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents while providing customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The role supports a welcoming campus environment through clear communication, calm responses to security concerns, and adherence to site-specific procedures and campus protocols. The schedule is Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 7:00 PM to 3:00 AM. The pay rate is $16.00 per hour. Applicants are subject to a background investigation and, where permitted by law, a drug screen. State or local licensing may be required before employment.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
Meet applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter locations to identify unusual activity, hazards, or access concerns.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, alarms, and critical situations, following established campus protocols.
Monitor access points and report suspicious activity, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
Accurately document patrol activities, incidents, and observations in required reports and logs.
