Security Officer Part Time Unarmed Patrol Deterrence
About The Position
Allied Universal is hiring a part-time unarmed Security Officer to support an educational campus in Asheville, North Carolina. The officer will monitor and patrol assigned campus areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and provide customer service to students, staff, faculty, visitors, and guests. The role requires clear communication, calm responses to concerns and incidents, and teamwork to contribute to a welcoming campus environment. The position pays $18.03 per hour. The listed schedule is Thursday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM, and Saturday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM. Employees may use the Claim a Shift platform to view and claim additional shifts.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old for an unarmed role.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Submit to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Submit to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Meet any licensing requirements imposed by applicable state or local laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus guests while following site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, residence areas, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter locations, identifying and reporting unusual activity, hazards, and policy concerns.
- Respond calmly and use problem-solving skills when handling incidents, alarms, medical situations, and other critical events; follow site protocols and contact appropriate personnel or emergency services when needed.
- Monitor access points and observe campus activity, reporting unauthorized access, suspicious behavior, damaged property, and other security-related concerns.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports about patrols, incidents, observations, and actions taken, and communicate professionally with campus stakeholders.
