Full Time Security Officer Needed for University Environment (Security)

About The Position

GuardTexas is hiring a full-time Security Officer to safeguard property in a university environment. The officer patrols premises and monitors for theft, violence, safety issues, and disturbances through observation and reporting. The primary responsibility is to deter crime through an authoritative presence. GuardTexas, a privately owned Texas security company established in 1976, provides security services across multiple industries and offers free security guard training to help hires obtain a license. This position is on the 3rd shift. Travel is not required. The role reports to the Manager.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Able to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
Customer service orientation.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations.
Critical thinking and sound judgment.
Visual acuity and hearing ability to observe and obtain information from relevant sources.
Ability to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, or the whole body, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting, standing for long periods, and handling materials.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensed security officer.
Active security registration.

Responsibilities

Provide a visual security presence.
Conduct regular rounds of premises to deter and detect intrusion and ensure doors, windows, and gates are secure.
Check windows, doors, gates, stairwells, fire exits, mechanical rooms, and other potential access points, following client instructions.
Inspect equipment as required to check for tampering and confirm it is working as specified in post orders.
Write reports on daily activities and irregularities, including damage, theft, unauthorized persons, unusual occurrences, safety hazards, equipment failure indicators, and temperature controls.
Respond to alarms and report disturbances.
Contact police, paramedics, or fire departments in emergencies.
Contact the Property Manager as appropriate under customer protocols.
Inform people of rule infractions or violations, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
Assist with building evacuations during emergencies.
Control crowds as required by the job site.
Perform other duties assigned by a supervisor or required by the customer contract.
