About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer for baggage screening in Lexington, Kentucky. In an education setting, the officer helps provide a welcoming, secure environment by screening people and belongings, monitoring access points, responding to security concerns, using screening equipment and technology, maintaining a visible presence, and providing customer service. The schedule is Tuesday and Wednesday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM. Pay is $19.00 per hour.

Requirements

At least 1 year of security-related experience.
At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing may be required before employment depending on state or local laws and regulations.
A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

Ability to lift more than 20 pounds.
X-ray screening experience.
Comfort using a computer or tablet.
Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests while following site-specific procedures and policies and carrying out emergency response activities.
Screen people, belongings, and authorized items entering designated campus facilities according to established procedures.
Monitor access points and report suspicious activity, prohibited items, or policy concerns to appropriate personnel.
Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, using problem-solving skills and completing required documentation.
Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned facilities and surrounding areas.
