About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time unarmed Security Officer to serve and safeguard a government services location in Jamaica, New York. The officer will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to deter security-related incidents, and report observations according to site procedures. The role also provides courteous customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public, communicating professionally with visitors and staff to support a welcoming environment.

The position pays $18.87 per hour and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Employment is contingent on a background investigation and, to the extent permitted by law, a drug screen. Licensing requirements may apply under state or local laws and may need to be met before employment.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet any licensing requirements imposed by applicable state or local laws; licensing may be required before employment.

Nice To Haves

• A state-, county-, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public at a government services location by following site-specific procedures and security policies.
• Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, unusual activity, and critical situations; notify appropriate personnel and complete required documentation.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, entrances, perimeters, and parking areas to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and verify visitor, employee, and contractor authorization according to site procedures.
• Support emergency response activities, including directing occupants and coordinating with first responders as appropriate.
