Security Officer - Access Screener

About The Position

As a part-time Security Officer serving as an X-ray access screener in a fast-paced logistics and distribution location in Indianapolis, Indiana, you will help maintain a secure environment by screening people and items, monitoring access points, and reporting security-related concerns. You will use technology to complete screening activities, maintain a visible presence, and provide customer service. The schedule is Tuesday and Saturday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21 or older for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment.
Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
Meet any applicable state or local licensing requirements before employment.
A valid driver's license is required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

Loss prevention experience.
Comfort using a computer or tablet.
Access control and badge experience.
X-ray screening experience.
Ability to lift more than 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and drivers while following site-specific security procedures, screening protocols, and emergency response activities.
Screen packages, cargo, vehicles, and/or personal belongings according to site procedures and applicable requirements; document screening activity and report discrepancies.
Verify credentials and control access to designated areas to help deter unauthorized entry and prohibited items.
Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, and critical situations; communicate observations to appropriate site contacts and emergency responders.
Conduct regular and random patrols of loading areas, shipping and receiving locations, and the surrounding perimeter; report unusual activity, damaged barriers, and security concerns.
