About The Position

Top Guard Security is hiring an Unarmed Security Officer to provide access control and patrol services for a client in the Lynnhaven area of Virginia Beach, Virginia. The officer will help safeguard the client, employees, visitors, and building while maintaining a professional presence, delivering customer service, and supporting site operations through teamwork and integrity. The role includes monitoring entry points, verifying credentials and visitor identities, documenting visits, contacting the employees visitors are there to see, issuing visitor badges, and retrieving them when visitors leave. Officers will patrol the client's buildings on foot or by vehicle and communicate with other officers, client personnel, and staff about visitors or issues. The position offers paid training and opportunities for advancement. The role has day, mid, and night shifts, including a Monday-through-Sunday schedule.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must have a DCJS Unarmed card.
Must have or be able to obtain CPR/AED certification.
Must have a DCJS Armed License or be able to obtain an Armed License.
Must be willing to obtain baton certification.
Must be at least 25 years of age.
Must have a valid driver's license with no violations.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must pass an extensive background check before starting work.
Must pass a drug test and be subject to random screenings at the client's request.
Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods and stoop, bend, pull, push, grasp, walk, run, carry, and climb.
Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds infrequently.
Must be able to work in hot and cold weather for extended periods, up to a full eight-hour shift.
Must speak audibly, clearly, and understandably to convey information or contact authorities.
Must work weekends and holidays.
Strong communication skills.
Professional demeanor and customer-service conduct.
Situational decision-making skills, including notifying appropriate personnel as needed.

Responsibilities

Control access to a secured building and monitor entry points.
Verify credentials and visitor identities, document visitors, contact the employees they are visiting, and issue and retrieve visitor badges.
Patrol the facility and client buildings on foot or by vehicle.
Complete radio checks with the other officer and the client.
Communicate with staff about visitors and issues occurring at the site.
Maintain a professional demeanor and presence that helps deter security-related incidents.
Provide customer service and use situational judgment to notify appropriate personnel as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Account Manager or client.
