About The Position

Top Guard Security is hiring an Armed Security Officer for access control at a government facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The officer will help safeguard the client, staff, visitors, and building by monitoring entry points, verifying credentials and visitor identities, documenting visits, contacting employees whom visitors are there to see, issuing and retrieving visitor badges, and maintaining a professional presence. The role also includes patrolling the facility, conducting radio checks with another officer and the client, communicating with staff about visitors or issues, and performing other duties assigned by the Account Manager or client. The position pays $21.00 per hour and offers full-time and part-time schedules. The facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with listed shifts of 7 a.m.–3 p.m., 3 p.m.–11 p.m., and 11 p.m.–7 a.m. Weekend work is included in the listed position details.

Requirements

Must already hold DCJS armed certification and a DCJS Armed card/license.
Must have baton certification or be willing to obtain it.
Must have or be able to obtain CPR/AED certification.
Must be at least 25 years old.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must pass an extensive background check and pre-employment drug screening; subject to random screenings at the client's request.
Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods and stoop, bend, pull, push, grasp, walk, run, carry, and climb.
Must be able to infrequently lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Control access to a secured building.
Patrol the facility.
Complete radio checks with the other officer and the client.
Check in visitors by verifying identity, documenting visits, contacting the employee they are visiting, issuing a visitor badge, and retrieving it when they leave.
Communicate with staff about visitors and issues occurring at the facility.
Maintain a professional presence and attitude to help deter security-related incidents.
Provide customer service and support site operations through teamwork and integrity.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Account Manager or client.
