Security Officer Supermarket Area Patrol
About The Position
Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer for supermarket area patrol in West Babylon, New York. The role provides reliable hours at an assigned site, with the option to claim additional shifts through the company’s scheduling platform. The designated weekly shift requires a six-month commitment. The position can offer up to 40 hours per week when additional shifts are available, with the flexibility to scale back. The listed shift is Saturday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The pay rate is $20.00 per hour. The officer provides customer service, follows security procedures and site policies, responds to incidents, conducts patrols, monitors access and visitor activity, reports concerns, and maintains activity logs and incident reports. Applicants are subject to background investigation and drug screening as permitted by law. Licensing requirements may apply under state or local law.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21 years or older for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable law.
- Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
- Meet applicable state and/or local licensing requirements; licensing may be required before employment.
Nice To Haves
- Possession of a guard card or license is preferred.
- Loss prevention experience is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations calmly and professionally, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of facilities, grounds, parking areas, entry points, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with directing guests, and report suspicious conditions, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
- Complete detailed activity logs and incident reports while maintaining a professional presence throughout the location.
