About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time unarmed Security Officer for access control at a utilities location in Santa Barbara, California. The officer will safeguard the site by maintaining a visible presence, patrolling assigned areas, supporting access control, and providing customer service and clear communication. The role involves working with a team and following site procedures while acting with integrity. The schedule is Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The pay rate is $21.25 per hour. Site facilities are limited and include portable toilets and rustic guard shacks.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Undergo a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
Undergo a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
Meet any licensing requirements that apply under state or local laws and regulations; licensing may be required before employment.

Nice To Haves

Access-control and badge experience.
Comfort using a computer or tablet.
Possession of a guard card or license.
Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to employees, contractors, visitors, and other stakeholders while following site-specific security procedures, access-control policies, and emergency-response activities.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, alarms, and critical situations, following established reporting and escalation protocols.
Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of facilities, substations, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
Monitor access to restricted operational areas, verify credentials as required, and document visitor, contractor, and delivery activity according to site procedures.
Complete activity reports, incident reports, and patrol logs, and communicate observations or concerns to site leadership and/or Allied Universal management.
