About The Position

The Security Officer maintains the overall security of an assigned facility by enforcing access control and observing, correcting, and reporting violations of applicable rules and regulations. The role supports Sizemore’s core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety, and Teamwork.

The position pays $16.50 per hour and is scheduled for a third shift with a rotating week. Work takes place in a climate-controlled building and/or outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role requires extensive walking, standing, and sitting; may involve threatening situations or exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids; and requires the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Continued employment is dependent on passing a criminal background check, a clean MVR check if driving, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens. The prescribed uniform must conceal tattoos; tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands are not allowed. Facial piercings must be removed while on duty, facial hair must be clean-shaven except for a mustache, and hair must be clean, neatly trimmed, and a natural color.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be a high school graduate or have received a GED.
• Demonstrate commitment to service and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor.
• Show patience, tact, enthusiasm, and diplomacy when dealing with people in any circumstances.
• Use initiative and sound judgment in evaluating and reacting to situations.
• Be able to multitask and work under pressure in potentially stressful and time-sensitive situations.
• Have problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize.
• Be able to work with minimum supervision, read and comprehend detailed instructions, and process information accurately and clearly.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Pass a criminal background check, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens; pass a clean MVR check if driving.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in security, military, or law enforcement.
• Proficiency with MS Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.
• Document security activity in a Daily Activity Report (DAR) and complete incident reports as required.
• Control vehicle and personnel access according to established procedures.
• Respond to emergency situations according to established procedures.
• Operate specialized equipment as needed, including Closed-Circuit Television Systems, vehicle scales, and computer systems.
• Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policies and procedures.
• Identify projects to increase effectiveness and efficiency and support a culture of constant improvement.
• Enforce Sizemore’s and the client’s policies and procedures.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
