About The Position

As a Security Officer at the visitor reception area of a hospital in North New Hyde Park, New York, you will provide a professional, customer-focused presence while safeguarding the site. You will welcome students, staff, and visitors; monitor access; manage visitor interactions; respond to security-related concerns; and communicate with site partners. The role is full-time and pays $18.00 per hour. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Requirements

Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles or 21 years of age or older for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests by following site-specific procedures and policies and, when appropriate, carrying out emergency response activities.
Greet visitors, verify access credentials, and direct individuals to appropriate offices or destinations.
Monitor access points, visitor activity, and security-related systems from the front desk, and report unusual activity or concerns according to site procedures.
Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, promptly notifying appropriate personnel or emergency responders.
Maintain accurate visitor logs, issue temporary access credentials as authorized, and support communication between the front desk and site personnel.
