About The Position

Stovepipe Wells, located in Death Valley National Park, is seeking a Seasonal Retail Associate for Winter 2026. As part of the POWDR family, an adventure lifestyle company, Stovepipe Wells offers a unique experience within the National Park. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the retail outlets, fostering a safe, friendly, and fun work environment that embraces outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship. The goal is to provide a "Journey Beyond the Ordinary" work culture and guest experience.

Requirements

  • POS technology and cash handling techniques.
  • Understanding and following all ESQ procedures.
  • Working with a “safety-first” attitude.
  • Minimizing environmental impact.
  • Treating all internal guests with respect and a hospitable service atmosphere.
  • Maintaining a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
  • Training in the proper use and care of assigned PPE.
  • Reporting defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.
  • Prepared to work a schedule which may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail operations.
  • Knowledge of Death Valley National Park or similar environments.
  • Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Answer guest questions regarding recreation, trails, paths, merchandise, lodging, the local area, directions, open hours, the resort and other relevant interests.
  • Utilize POS technology and cash handling techniques.
  • Visually check inventory, products and receiving.
  • Perform routine visual inspections of products and ensure attractive, neat placement.
  • Ensure prompt service and guest comment card surveys.
  • Participate in actions to improve as directed.
  • Ensure attractive, clean and organized products.
  • Secure proper signage, help with loss prevention.
  • Work to ensure a top-notch, high touch guest experience.
  • Adhere to green procurement standards.
  • Prepare for inspections and audits and is always prepared.
  • Communicate family friendly recreation for the public and lodging guests.
  • Be well-versed in inventory to maximize business and sales.
  • Participate in on-going team training and development engagement to maximize the guest experience, satisfaction, and skills such as, EHSQ, offering and selling merchandise, retail, lodging, and activities.
  • Train and develop staff to ensure excellent customer service and efficiency.
  • Promote overall enjoyable staff experience by implementing positivity and fun in daily operations.
  • Understand and follow all ESQ procedures that relate to your job duties.

  • Minimize your impact on the environment when at work and living onsite.
  • Treat customers, co-workers, and leadership teams with respect and project a hospitable service atmosphere at all times.
