About The Position

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service, is recruiting multiple seasonal contractual employees for the Fall 2026 to Spring 2027 season at New Germany State Park in Garrett County, Maryland. The available working titles in the Maintenance Series are Housekeeping/Custodial Worker and Maintenance Worker. Applicants must indicate the position or positions of interest on the Supplemental Questionnaire. The listed salary is $17.41 or more per hour. The role may include duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle, UTV, or golf cart; employees assigned those duties must hold a valid Maryland driver's license and have five or fewer points on their current driving record. Selected applicants may undergo employment, education, driving-record, and criminal-history checks, including fingerprinting, as applicable. Contractual employees who meet the stated hours and eligibility conditions may qualify for subsidized health coverage and may elect other insurance coverage at their own expense. Contractual leave may accrue at one hour per 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per calendar year.

Requirements

• At least 40 hours of customer service or maintenance experience; qualifying experience may include professional or volunteer work in retail, the service industry, administrative work, or similar fields.
• Applicants must report education and experience related to the essential functions of the position in their application.
• Employees assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle, UTV, or golf cart must have a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license and five points or fewer on their current driving record. Provisional licenses are not accepted for those duties.
• Selected applicants may be required to complete employment reference, education, driving-record (if driving is required), and criminal-history checks, including fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

• At least six months of experience working in a park location performing park operations.

Benefits

• Eligible contractual employees working 30 or more hours per week, or an average of 130 hours per month, may qualify for subsidized medical and prescription coverage for themselves and enrolled dependents; the employee pays 25% of premiums and the State of Maryland subsidizes the remaining 75%.
• Eligible employees may elect dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, paying the full premiums.
• Contractual leave may accrue at one hour per 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per calendar year.
