The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service, is recruiting for multiple seasonal contractual positions at Pocomoke River State Park for the Fall 2026 to Spring 2027 season. Applicants must identify the position or positions of interest on the Supplemental Questionnaire. Working-title series include Administrative/Customer Service, Concession Manager, Historical Interpreter/Naturalist, Naturalist Ranger, Park Ranger, and Park Ranger Lead. The minimum qualification is 40 hours of customer service or maintenance experience, including professional or volunteer experience in retail, the service industry, administrative work, or similar fields. A preferred qualification is at least six months of experience performing park operations at a park location. Some assignments may require operating a motor vehicle, UTV, or golf cart; employees assigned those duties must hold a valid Maryland driver’s license and have five or fewer points on their driving record. A provisional license is not accepted for those assignments. Selected applicants may undergo an employment background investigation, which may include reference and education checks, a driving record check where applicable, and a criminal history check including fingerprinting. Continued employment, when checks are required, is contingent on the results. Contractual employees who work for a covered agency, have a current employment contract, and work at least 30 hours per week or an average of 130 hours per month may be eligible for subsidized health benefits. Eligible employees pay 25% of medical and prescription premiums, with the State subsidizing the remaining 75%. Dental, accidental death and dismemberment, and life insurance may also be elected at the employee’s full premium cost. Contractual employees may be granted leave at one hour per 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per calendar year.
