About The Position

Alterations Specialists complete customer fittings and garment alterations to David’s Bridal standards and report to the Store Manager. They provide friendly, knowledgeable, technically skilled service and contribute to a five-star customer experience as members of the store team. The role includes consulting with customers and stylists about gown fit and customization, promoting alteration services and personalization options, managing fittings and garment work, and ensuring altered garments are in pristine condition before delivery. Alterations Specialists also support store operations, including customer flow, inventory, transactions, and maintaining an organized alterations room.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty-store environment.
Prior sewing experience required.
Ability to perform sewing and fittings to David’s Bridal standards.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Manual dexterity to use POS terminals, count money, steam garments, access computers, handle phone calls, sew, and perform fittings.
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, and move throughout the store.
Ability to talk to and hear customers and to see at close and distant ranges, use peripheral vision and depth perception, and use computers, electronic devices, and phones for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

Prior sewing experience in a bridal and/or special occasion production environment is preferred.
Prior experience with a computerized POS system is a plus.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers warmly in person, by phone, and through virtual chats; communicate clearly and adapt service to customers’ needs.
Use store systems to manage customer flow and deliver a five-star customer experience while maintaining service levels and completing operational checklist tasks.
Serve multiple customers at once and contribute to the store’s customer-service goals.
Address customer concerns, resolve service issues in accordance with company guidelines, and escalate or partner with leadership when appropriate.
Explain how alterations can perfect a gown for an event and promote alteration services and personalization options.
Assist stylists in closing sales by advising customers on gown fit and customization.
Maintain store standards and comply with the Dress Code Policy.
Greet and escort alterations customers to and from appointments.
Inspect altered, steamed, or pressed garments to verify quality and pristine condition before final delivery.
Respond promptly to customer questions with product and service information, and build customer relationships that support satisfaction and loyalty.
Process special-order pickups and maintain inventory management and merchandise quality standards.
Ensure alteration pricing follows company standards.
Perform alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning to company standards.
Support cash-wrap activities and process transactions accurately.
Keep the alterations room clean and organized.
Perform other duties and tasks assigned by store management.
