About The Position

The Science Shop (Gift Shop) Team Member provides customer service to Science Museum Oklahoma patrons visiting the gift store. The role includes point-of-sale operations in a cash-handling environment, assisting guests with information, maintaining the shop’s appearance and merchandise stock, and representing the museum professionally. This is a part-time position requiring availability for 16 to 24 hours per week, including weekends and occasional holidays.

Requirements

• One or more years of cash-handling experience.
• One or more years of experience in a customer service position.
• Open availability and ability to work 16 to 24 hours per week, including weekends.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure with flexibility.
• Excellent mathematical skills.
• Ability to operate computer equipment used in the Science Shop.
• Ability to meet the position’s physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience designing and assembling merchandise displays at a retail store.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and guests, monitor traffic flow, and assist with customer service information.
• Handle register cash, provide change, and balance the register at the end of the day.
• Facilitate guests’ visits to the shop.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent Science Museum Oklahoma to the public.
• Keep the Science Shop clean and organized.
• Process merchandise shipments and maintain sales-floor stock levels.
• Maintain knowledge of museum programs, shows, memberships, and auxiliary services.
• Demonstrate products to guests as assigned by the supervisor.
• Perform other responsibilities and tasks assigned by the Science Shop supervisor.
