About The Position

First Student is hiring a part-time School Van Driver for the Conestoga School District. The driver transports students to school in the morning and home in the afternoon, with possible additional hours for field trips and special events. The role offers training and guidance; no prior driving experience is necessary. The schedule is flexible and split between morning and afternoon routes, with summers off. The position is safety-sensitive and subject to DOT drug testing. English proficiency is required for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Have held a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
Enjoy working with students.
Have English proficiency for job-related training, safety communications, policies, documents, and other communications.

Nice To Haves

Experience driving for ride-share companies or taxi services.
Experience as a teacher, social worker, classroom assistant, hospitality worker, customer service associate, or retail associate.

Responsibilities

Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
Supervise students boarding and unloading at stops, assisting with seatbelts and mobility aids as needed.
Maintain order in the vehicle to prevent distractions.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and emergency exits.
Promptly report mechanical issues and keep the vehicle clean and sanitary.
Follow traffic laws and company safety standards.
Communicate with parents, school staff, and dispatch about student behavior or delays.
Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills.
