About The Position

As a part-time School Van Driver, you will transport students safely to and from school and activities. The role includes morning pickups and afternoon drop-offs, with additional hours potentially available for field trips and special events. No prior experience is necessary; First Student provides training and guidance to help drivers work safely and professionally. The position offers a flexible split-shift schedule (AM/PM routes) and summers off. It is suited to people who enjoy working with students and are seeking part-time work. The role is safety-sensitive and subject to DOT drug testing. English proficiency is required for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Have held a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
Have English proficiency for required training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Enjoy working with students.
Experience driving for ride-share companies or taxi services.
Experience as a teacher, social worker, classroom assistant, hospitality worker, or customer service or retail associate.

Responsibilities

Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
Supervise students boarding and unloading at stops, and assist with seatbelts and mobility aids.
Maintain order on the vehicle to prevent distractions.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checks of brakes, lights, tires, and emergency exits.
Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the vehicle clean and sanitary.
Obey traffic laws and company safety standards.
Communicate with parents, school staff, and dispatch about student behavior or delays.
Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills.
