School Van Driver
About The Position
Medical Transport Systems is seeking reliable and compassionate School Van Drivers and Paratransit Drivers to transport students with special needs and disabilities to and from school. Drivers help ensure students’ safety and comfort during their commute, follow safety protocols, and provide assistance as needed. The role offers $18.00–$20.00 per hour, with an attendance bonus available that can add up to $3 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with AM shifts from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and PM shifts from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Drivers work a split shift of two shifts per day, for 30–40 hours per week. There are no nights, weekends, or major holidays. Medical Transport Systems has provided transportation services to Bucks and Montgomery Counties for over 20 years and has exclusively transported special education students for the past seven years. It has 80 employees operating more than 50 vehicles. Requirements
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record for the last three years.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Patience, empathy, and good communication skills.
- Pass a criminal background check and Child Abuse History Clearance.
- Ability to meet district certification requirements.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a school van or paratransit vehicle.
- Assist students with mobility needs, including providing wheelchair support.
- Follow designated routes and schedules.
- Secure passengers using required safety equipment.
- Communicate with school staff, parents, and supervisors.
- Keep the vehicle clean and report maintenance needs.
- Follow zero-tolerance safety standards.
