About The Position

The Scheduler obtains and verifies demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information while scheduling patient tests and procedures, pre-registering patients, and clearing them financially for services. The role validates medical necessity for Medicare and non-Medicare cases and processes signed physician orders to support clinical documentation. The Scheduler also verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, secures pre-certifications or authorizations and referral clearance, and provides financial education. When appropriate, the incumbent informs patients or guarantors of their financial liabilities, collects payments, and refers cases to resource counseling for follow-up and consultation. The position schedules outpatient appointments for radiology modalities and facilities, excluding biopsy and special procedures. It determines scheduling requirements, coordinates resources and add-on or same-day appointments, and sequences tests to minimize patient delays. The Scheduler contacts patients with appointment details and preparation instructions, educates patients, families, and physician offices, communicates confirmations to referring offices, and reconciles daily charge reports. Other duties may be assigned.
