About The Position
The Surgery Scheduler enhances the patient/customer experience by courteously and professionally scheduling inpatient and outpatient procedures and surgeries. The role supports delivery of the Jefferson Experience, emphasizing prompt and courteous treatment of patients. The position is based at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania, and is a regular employee role on the Workday Day shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to provide and support a positive Jefferson Experience for patients and visitors.
- Ability to process and interpret data.
- Ability to multitask while managing a time-sensitive workload.
- Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.
- Frequent sitting and standing, and frequent keyboard use.
Responsibilities
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson’s values.
- Collect and review patient insurance information, obtain inpatient and outpatient prior authorizations and referral information, and ensure necessary approvals are in place before scheduled procedures.
- Complete pre-procedure phone calls and confirm appointment times with patients by telephone.
- Provide patients with necessary pre-operative instructions.
- Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
