Scaler Operator - Underground Limestone Mine
About The Position
The Scaler Operator works in an underground limestone mine and scales loose rock from mine walls and ceilings to help maintain safe working conditions. The role involves safely operating scaling equipment and tools in confined spaces, inspecting work areas for hazards, performing basic equipment checks, communicating maintenance needs, and collaborating with team members to support safe and productive quarry operations. The position is physically demanding and takes place in environments with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise levels. Successful candidates must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require ongoing FMCSA-regulated drug and alcohol testing.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively in underground environments.
- Strong safety mindset and ability to recognize and mitigate hazards.
- Ability to follow procedures, communicate clearly, and work as part of a team.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort performing basic equipment inspections.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently in physically demanding conditions.
- Successful completion of a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
