About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role determines the content of incoming materials, bills customers accurately, and accepts or rejects loads based on their contents. It also records incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, handles customer payments and receipts, and supports the processing of special loads. The employee may perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the content of materials entering the facility to bill customers properly.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents; suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, and/or local market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts to ensure accurate recordkeeping and billing, and deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
Document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems, and track total incoming waste.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch as necessary; and process required paperwork and other duties needed to handle special loads.
Answer telephone calls and provide general information to callers.
Maintain a clean work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
