About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site, collects applicable usage fees, and supports accurate customer billing and facility records. The role evaluates incoming materials and loads, processes payments and receipts, documents waste using truck scales and computer systems, and coordinates special loads with operations. It also includes answering calls, maintaining a clean work area, and completing other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
• Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

• Determine the content of material entering the facility to bill customers properly.
• Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents, and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, and/or local-market training.
• Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
• Balance daily receipts to ensure accurate records and billing, and deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
• Document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems, and track total waste volumes.
• Notify operations of special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch loads as necessary; and process required paperwork and other duties needed to handle special loads.
• Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
