About The Position

The Scale Operator operates truck scales and addresses customer service needs while ensuring accurate weight recording and verifying inbound and outbound truck loads. The role takes pictures of material, records information provided by drivers and customers, captures gross and tare weights, selects the correct commodity for inbound and outbound loads, and ensures outbound trucks meet weight requirements. The operator also verifies customer specifications and pricing for outbound shipments, communicates with transportation personnel, customers, management, and yard employees, and reports fraudulent activity, accidents, and injuries.

Requirements

Strong communication skills to interact successfully with employees, management, and customers.
Strong customer service skills.
Strong writing skills to complete paperwork effectively.
Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once.
Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Take pictures of material and enter numbers provided by drivers and customers.
Capture gross and tare weights and select the correct commodity for inbound and outbound loads.
Ensure outbound trucks meet compliant weight requirements.
Ensure customer specifications are met when shipping outbound materials and verify customer pricing before completing transactions.
Maintain a high level of internal and external customer service.
Communicate effectively with transportation, customers, management, and yard employees using two-way radios and CB radios.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Report fraudulent activity and report accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
