Scale Operator
About The Position
The Scale Operator operates sewing line scales, sets up scales for bagging, manually catches bags, and operates sewing machines. The role includes light maintenance of scales, sewing machines, and label machines; metal detector checks; food safety checks for the sewing lines; daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning; and completion of pre-operational checklists. The operator also supports preventative maintenance, lubrication, machinery checks, dust system monitoring, and written reporting. The role is responsible for following HACCP and food safety policies and procedures, helping maintain plant safety, attending required or supervisor-approved training, and performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities
- Set up and operate sewing line scales for bagging.
- Manually catch bags and operate the sewing machine.
- Perform light maintenance on scales, sewing machines, and the label machine.
- Perform metal detector checks and food safety checks associated with the sewing lines.
- Complete daily cleaning tasks and weekly deep cleaning tasks.
- Perform pre-operational checklists.
- Follow HACCP and food safety policies and procedures.
- Support plant safety by observing people entering the work area, offering assistance, and reporting unauthorized persons to the supervisor.
- Attend training as required or approved by the supervisor.
- Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication, and machinery checks.
- Monitor the dust system and complete various written reports.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
