About The Position

Operate truck scales while handling customer service needs. The Scale Operator processes inbound and outbound loads, verifies weights and commodities, supports shipping transactions, and communicates with customers and employees. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills to interact successfully with employees, management, and customers.
• Strong writing skills to complete paperwork effectively.
• Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner with attention to detail.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Take pictures of material and enter numbers provided by drivers or customers.
• Capture gross and tare weights, select the correct commodity for inbound and outbound loads, and ensure outbound trucks comply with weight requirements.
• Ensure customer specifications are met when shipping outbound materials and verify customer pricing before completing transactions.
• Maintain a high level of internal and external customer service.
• Communicate effectively with transportation personnel, customers, management, and yard employees using two-way radios and CB radios.
• Report fraudulent activity and report accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
