About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site accurately and efficiently and collects the appropriate usage fees from customers. The role includes assessing incoming materials and loads, documenting waste using truck scales and computer systems, processing payments and receipts, and communicating with customers and facility operations. The position also involves maintaining the work area and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
• Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

• Determine the content of materials entering the facility to bill customers properly.
• Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents, and suggest alternatives based on special waste, waste type, and/or local market training.
• Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
• Balance daily receipts to ensure accurate recordkeeping and billing, and deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
• Document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems, and track the total amount of waste entering the facility.
• Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch loads as necessary; process required paperwork and perform other duties needed to process special loads.
• Answer telephone calls and provide general information.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
