About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role determines the contents of incoming materials to ensure correct billing, accepts or rejects loads based on their contents, and may suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, or local market training. The operator documents incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, processes special loads and related paperwork, handles customer payments and daily receipts, and maintains the work area. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the contents of incoming material to bill customers properly.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, or local market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts for accurate records and billing, and deposit receipts into the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track the total amount of waste entering the facility.
Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch loads as necessary; process required paperwork and perform other duties needed to process special loads.
Answer telephone calls and provide general information to callers.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
