Temp Scale Operator / Customer Service

About The Position

This temporary position weighs trucks, assists with customer needs, and monitors yards and asphalt plant functions. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Saturdays as needed. Hours and duties vary with customer demand and growth, and the position requires availability to work fluctuating hours.

Requirements

General education, grammar, and arithmetic skills; a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
Ability to use basic office equipment, including a computer, scanner, copier, and 10-key calculator.

Nice To Haves

Valid driver’s license.
Experience working at a quarry or aggregate plant.
Knowledge of the APEX/JWS program.
Bilingual Spanish/English skills.

Responsibilities

Weigh and ticket trucks in a timely manner.
Assist with daily cash sales and prepare overnight packages for other Knife River locations.
Communicate with dispatch, truck drivers, and management about plant and traffic issues, including construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazards.
Prepare the next day’s work orders and run daily billing reports.
Record and maintain records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.
Relay sales orders, messages, and information to or from the sales team and other departments.
Assist with cleaning the scale house, including restrooms.
Answer phones and operate a two-way radio system.
Perform other duties as assigned.
