About The Position

The Scale House Operator works at the Hopewell, Virginia weigh/scale facility and is responsible for organizing shipping paperwork and managing inbound and outbound truck scale traffic to AdvanSix facilities and other local company facilities. The role weighs trucks and containers, records information for billing and compliance, maintains scale accuracy, and coordinates preventive maintenance. The operator also works with vendors, truck drivers, and customers and uses inventory-management and truck-scale software.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic math skills.
Experience with radio communication.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to work occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
Ability to multitask and set priorities effectively.
Responsible, punctual, productive, and organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Warehouse or trucking knowledge.
Proficiency with computer systems and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Proficiency with office equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, and printers.

Responsibilities

Weigh inbound and outbound trucks and containers.
Ensure trucks leaving the scales are at safe and legal weights in compliance with AdvanSix and Department of Agriculture guidelines.
Record information relevant to each truck, including vehicle type, tags, and driver, and accurately enter data for billing purposes.
Maintain scale accuracy and coordinate scale preventive maintenance.
Organize and manage shipping paperwork for inbound trucks.
Capture required information from drivers while they are on the scale.
Use the company’s inventory-management and truck-scale software.
Scan shipping documents as appropriate.
Keep track of company release numbers.
Work with vendors, truck drivers, and customers.
Assist with other projects as assigned in addition to regular responsibilities.
