About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role includes determining the contents of incoming materials to bill customers correctly, accepting or rejecting loads, handling customer payments, documenting waste with truck scales and computer systems, and helping process special loads. The position is seasonal.

Requirements

• Experience in a position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
• Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

• Determine the contents of materials entering the facility and bill customers appropriately.
• Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents, and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, or local-market training.
• Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
• Balance daily receipts to ensure accurate records and billing, and deposit receipts in the safe depository.
• Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track total waste volumes.
• Notify operations about special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch as needed; and process required paperwork.
• Answer telephone calls and provide general information.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
