About The Position

The Sanitation Operator cleans production equipment and environmental areas in a fresh kitchen operation. The role involves assembling and disassembling equipment, safely dispensing and using chemicals, maintaining the chemical storage area, and operating and maintaining floor scrubbers. The operator must follow standard operating procedures and prevent damage to equipment, including electrical wiring and control panels, while applying the appropriate chemicals to different equipment and locations. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe working habits.
• Be able to use industrial-strength chemicals and understand and demonstrate Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Frequently lift more than 50 pounds and push or pull heavy equipment.
• Have basic mechanical skills and general knowledge of machine operation.
• Be able to work in a wet and slippery environment and bend, stoop, or squat.
• Work in a fast-paced environment and perform steady, productive work for extended periods.
• Have good human relations skills and work well with others as a team player.
• Be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• Have excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Follow detailed written and verbal instructions and possess basic math skills.
• Communicate effectively and demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work, and commitment to Publix and its mission.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and disassemble equipment.
• Dispense and use chemicals safely and maintain the chemical storage area.
• Clean production equipment and environmental locations using appropriate chemicals.
• Follow standard operating procedures and prevent damage to equipment, including electrical wiring and control panels.
• Operate and maintain floor scrubbers.
• Learn and perform all positions and assist team members in other areas.
• Troubleshoot using creative thinking and work efficiently with little or no supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
