About The Position

Peerless-AV is hiring a Sander/Grinder to grind and sand welded parts to company standards and specifications. The position is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The employee selects and uses appropriate abrasives and grinding or polishing tools to finish and inspect parts, performs equipment and area cleanup, and may assist with material handling. The role requires following Peerless-AV and OSHA safety procedures. Compensation is USD 26–28 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and squeeze during shifts of 8 or more hours.
• Ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 30 pounds without assistance; items above 30 pounds require a team lift.
• Ability to push and pull materials and equipment as needed.
• Ability to wear required safety equipment, including gloves, glasses, and respirators.

Responsibilities

• Select the appropriate abrasive belt, wheel, sand roll, or disk based on specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and the condition of the metal, and attach it to grinding and polishing tools.
• Operate tools including large and small angle grinders, belt sanders, die grinders, orbital sanders, drum sanders, and hand files.
• Visually and physically inspect parts for dents, scratches, and rust that need to be removed.
• Use tools on workpiece surfaces to remove scratches, tool marks, excess weld material, sharp edges, and burrs.
• Clean equipment and surrounding areas.
• Perform basic material handling as needed, potentially using a manual pallet jack and/or forklift to move and stage materials.
• Follow Peerless-AV and OSHA safety-related work rules and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
